An Interview with Henry Vines PDF Print E-mail

The Democratic candidate for NC House District 64 discusses why he is the "People's Candidate".

Henry VinesWhen asked “Why are you running…why now?”

For six years I have felt the people in District 64 were not being adequately represented. I know I am not the only one saying that, and I told myself "Henry, this is the year you stop talking and complaining and start doing something about it" . It is important to me that the voters know I really care about the future of this district and the State of North Carolina. This is the year voters make the choice of who is their voice in Raleigh. This choice will be made by those people who care enough to get involved by voting.

What type of representative do you think the people in your district want and need?

It's not so much what I think, as what I have been told by people in this district. They want a representative with an open, responsive mind … a person who knows how to work with people and understands when you have to stand your ground and when compromise may be what's best for the good of the people. They want someone who is more about action than about attitude, a representative who is accountable for what he does or does not do, a person that will not point fingers but instead offer leadership.

What do you want the voters in District 64 to know about Henry Vines?

First of all, I want them to know that Henry Vines is not about what can't be done!

  • I am about researching the situations thoroughly, deciding what needs to be done, and then finding a way to do it.

  • I am about setting goals and working toward meeting those goals.

  • I believe throwing good thinking into problems first, rather than good money, gets better results. Some problems are cheap to fix; and, as we all know, many aren't. Let's spend taxpayer dollars wisely.

  • If they want to vote for a candidate that is open minded, fair, honest and who knows how to work with people, I am their man.

  • If they want a candidate that works to resolve problems, not create problems, I am their man.

  • If they want a candidate that will listen and work for their best interests, I ask them to place their trust in me.

I am not as well spoken as many, but what I do say is from my heart. I know I would be the best representative for District 64. The voters truly have a choice to make this year, where they have not had a choice in the past six years. I want to be the choice of the people so I can work toward improving the future for all of us.
